Raja Virunthu 76 Items in one huge Banana Leaf for 700 Rupees - Veg and Non Veg Varieties Raja Bhogam
Since it's a King's meal, I want to eat like a king. It's very juicy on the inside. I don't even know what to eat as there's so much here. Chicken Maya Tikka. Mutton Seekh. Look at this. There's garlic and chilli powder in it. Lollipop.
I was wondering how I was going to eat all this and but look at me now is what you might think. Please don't think about it. Hello everyone. We're at Raja Bhogam restaurant at Kovilambakkam. Earlier it was called the carnival but now they've changed the name to Raja Bhogam.
They used to serve King's food at the Carnival. They serve a lot of dishes on the banana leaf and its like an unlimited meal. They served 25 items initally when they began around 3- 4 year ago but now they serve at 76 items in a single leaf for Rs. 700. It sounds great. They asked me to come over and check out their food.
So I'm really excited to see how they are going to serve the 76 items in a banana leaf. Let's go in and taste all the 76 items. Since it's Raja Bhogam, I'm going to eat like a king. I always eat like one but today even more so. Am I talking a lot? It's okay. Hey bro. This is hibiscus tea sir. Is that so?
Hibiscus tea is the welcome drink. Do you give it to everyone? Yes sir, we give it to everyone. So everyone gets this. Can I serve? Yes please go ahead. Everyone gets it. Isn't it a shot glass? Nice. This is a shot of hibiscus right? Yes sir. This is a hibiscus shot. Is this supposed to be cold or hot?
It's supposed to be hot or warm. It's warm. Nice. This is interesting. I can smell the hibiscus. My friend is a moron. Let's go inside. Thank you bro. Thank you so much. Welcome. Thank you.
They have placed all the food in the Raja Bhogam (King's Meal). In order to eat this, I saw this chair in the front and asked for it and wore the crown.
As its the King's meal, I want to eat like a King. There's a lot of dishes on here. Out of the 76 items, not everything is here as the dessert is on the way. They will get it later as it will melt if they get it right now so I've asked them to wait. So our brother here will tell us the dishes present here.
Welcome. I'm going to call him bullet bro. How are you doing bullet? I'm good sir. We've served the King's meal for you. So we have 76 dishes as a part of the meal. We present all the dishes on the banana leaf for you.
Can I start explain the dishes? Please. We have the welcome drinks. That's the vettriver Kulukki, grape kulukki, mint cooler, nannari kulukki and buttermilk.
Nice and what's next?
Vadagam so it's like a type of chips. We have four types here with gongura chutney, peanut chutney, spicy vandikaran chutney and curried mayo. That's great. Next thing we expect in a meal is soup. We have chicken and tomato soup. This is chicken soup and this is tomato soup. We've served two soups.
Next we've the starters. We have vegetarian and non vegetarian options for starters. That is potato 65. Then we have Gobi 65, plantain kola orundai; paneer and pepper fry and mushroom fry.
In the non vegetarian dishes, we have pepper lollipop, prawn 65 which is deep fried and we have the tikka varities of paneer, malai, banana and kandari tikka.
Next in the egg varieties we have omelette, egg kalakki, mutta podimas and half boil with egg 65. We also have the chicken 65 and the Muthameen tawa fry. We also have the pepper chicken fry, Neythili fish fry and chicken malai tikka. We also have the mutton kola urundai, mutton seekh kebab and chicken malai tikka.
We also have the chicken dum biryani made from basmati rice, mutton biryani and Thalasseri biryani which is layered and is made in the Kerala style. We serve rice. We also have the bread varieties. We have Tandoori rotis and five types of porottas Which ones?
Ghee porotta, fried porotta, Malabar parotta, garlic porotta and chilli porotta. That's quite the variety.
What are these kuzhambu? Vatha kuzhambu, rasam and curd along with papad. Next we have six varieties of gravy for the parotta and roti. Chettinadu vegetable curry, Chettinadu mushroom and Chettinadu curry. We also have Nethili fish gravy, Keda gravy and Chettinadu chicken gravy. Thank you brother.
Finally there's a banana and sweet beeda. It adds a final touch. That sounds great and thank you. We have so many items here so we'll start with soup. This is the chicken pepper soup. It's really spicy. Its a tangy and spicy soup. The flavour of the chicken is really infused in the soup.
We have some bits inside the soup as you can see. It's gone cold else it would've been even better. My head hurts. It feels like I've released a load of weight from my head. I can't imagine how the Kings must have worn these in the past. Let me to get to my business.
It's so hard to reach and pick it up and I'm trying the Potato 65. It has been cooked well and potatos are always great to eat. There's a light spice coating on top of it. It has been wrapped real well in the coating. I can feel the batter. I forgot what its called, its the Gobi.
The cauliflower is great. Initially they only served non vegetarian but now they serve both in this. It's salty. This made out of plaintain and its a kola. We heard all of you were concerned about the lack of kolas so they made it. This is great and its really juicy on the inside. It's not dry at all.
There are a lot of spices in this and gives a umami taste. I love this kola urundai. I was wondering its a vegetarian so how good could it be but this really exceeded my expectations. This is not non vegetarian right? This is vegetarian but it tastes so good. The kulukki sarbath is great. This is made from paneer and pepper.
This has been made really well with pepper and onions. It's spicy and juicy. I don't think I've tried anything like this before. The power is out. This is mushroom. I'm going to try something non vegetarian. I don't even know what to eat as there's a lot here. It's confusing me just to see it.
I'm going to try something non vegetarian. I'll try the egg 65. It's fried and coated really well. The spice in the masala is great. It's not subtle. It's got the punch. This is the chicken malai tikka. It's really good and its coated really well as they've been very generous. It's soft and a little sweet. It looks rich.
They have a lot of chutneys for vadagams so I'll try the gongura chutney. Nice and it's very tangy. They gave this to me before they served the rest of the food to eat something as you wait and this variety is honestly great. This is the mutton seekh. The mutton masala is ultimate. It's tangy too.
The masala and the mutton is really aromatic and tangy. This is paneer tikka. It's good. This is pineapple tikka. There's an explosion of the juice from it and that just tastes great. The feeling is different. Next we've the omelette. Tasting all these is filling up my stomach. The grape kulukki is great.
They've added some other stuff in it which is really good for beating the heat. This is the Neythilii fry. It's good. I think it's a lot crispier when its made but now its gone a little soft. They have marinated it with the spice and flour. We also have different types of breads. We've a laccha paratha and types of naan here.
I will try just one. That's the vegetarian side but I want something non vegetarian. This looks like some goat curry. Let's taste this. There's so many different kinds of dishes here and just thinking about what is here itself is very confusing. I think its some type of goat curry. It smells of coconut oil.
They added some coconut oil in this mutton curry and its great. Next we'll have the chaaps. These are the chicken chaaps and there's a lot of masala in it. The masala used is great. Its really thick and they applied it all over. All of this is unlimited so if you ask for helpings, they will provide it.
I think this is the chicken 65. Yes it is. It's great and this is how it looks. It's the breast piece and it's really crispy. It's good. I feel like eating more of this chicken 65. I want to try the fish curry. Sometimes we won't find what we're looking for. This is chicken. They have made porotta with spicy garlic.
Can you see it? There's garlic and chilli. So it's chilli garlic. The texture is great. I'm going to try it by itself first. I love garlic and now I'm going to try it with some chicken. There's the aroma of the cocnut oil and when it is used, it dominates the entire dish. There's podimas too. We also have fried porotta.
I think it has some ghee in it so let me try it. The sound of tearing it. They have made the porotta really well. Since there's a lot of dishes, I don't have enough time to sit and appreciate it but the layers of the porotta is great. I really like this combination.
The podimas is great and it consists of tomato, onion, curry leaves, green chillies. The podimas is ultimate and so is the porotta. How am I going to eat all this? You might think I'm eating all this despite saying how am I going to finish it all. This is the fried fish and it's good. The masala on it is good.
The coating is not similar to the one on this vanji masala. As I was saying, they have applied it really well. They said this is the Thalassery biryani as it is made in Kerala and it seems like the masala and the rice is mixed together.
The Thalaserry biryani I tried earlier looked different but maybe its a different type of it. It's really good. I think they have made the rice using ghee. It's good so people who prefer vegetarian can try it. I'm going to eat the lollipop.
There's some difference between lollipop and chicken 65 It's really juicy. It's very juicy and I like it. This is the prawn. The prawn starters is great and it's so enjoyable to eat it. I just want to keep eating it. This is the mint cooler. I thought the mint wouldn't be sweet and it would be salty but that's not how it is.
This is something vegetarian. This is filled with vegetables and looks like some type of vegetable kadai masala. The vegetarians might be pissed that I did not show enough of it. It's for you and I'll do anything for you.
Won't I eat vegetarian for you? This is filled with vegetable masala. There's coconut oil and all of these are made with it. How nice. It's very good. I think this is fish curry. Yes it is made of Neythili fish and I've finally discovered the treasure. I really like Neythili, even fish in geneal.
There's ghee in this and it feels great to eat it. Come on. It's made of tomato, garlic and tamarind and the juices of the fish have infused really well in it. It's good. This is the mutton kola urundai. It's good and it's not dry on the inside. The texture feels similar to a batter.
It feels like there's lesser spice in it. I prefer this plaintain kola urundai over this one. I can't believe I'm saying that I prefer plaintain kola urundai over mutton kola urundai. But this is how it is here and I really love it. I keep saying vada. Look at this vatha kuzhambu.
It's so thick and I love vatha kuzhambu. I just poured some and the feeling of mixing it together is something else. It's sweet and it becomes spicy later. The smell of the garlic is just great and I love garlic. This is unbeatable. It is simply outstanding and the vatha kuzhambu is ultimate.
I'm going to eat it at the end again. Let me finish eating the chicken and mutton biryani first. This is the chicken biryani. The steam is different for the chicken and the mutton biryani. It's good.
The chicken biryani is good. I don't know what spices are in it but the smell of the chicken is great and the steam has cooked it well so its like how a good chicken biryani should be.
This is the mutton biryani. Mutton biryani is great too. Even if both are given separately, I can enjoy both of them so that's how both of the biryanis are. But I prefer mutton biryani over the chicken biryani despite them having the same base of flavours and have been steamed separately as mutton always wins.
The smell of the mutton is like that and I love it. This is the rasam. The rasam is ultimate and it's really good. Now that I'm done with all this, I still have the desserts left to try but after that I will finish the meals and leave. I'm going to try the nannari and it's great.
How can nannari ever not be good? The buttermilk has thickened a bit as it's been some time. This is really good and I think they added some mint paste in it so I really like it. I don't have enough space in my stomach so I had tried it earlier, I would've finished the entire thing.
Now I've to finish it anyway. Next we have the dessert. They have presented it really well and now the things on the top have melted a bit as I was taking pictures of it. Bro I can recognise butterscotch but what about the rest?
This is bread halwa?
This is beetroot halwa with paan ice cream, banana mukkani sundae, white chocolate phirni with chocolate ice cream, payasam with vanilla ice cream and very berry payasam with strawberry ice cream. This is so good.
Should I taste all this?
Let me taste it. Look at this. This is bread halwa with butterscotch ice cream. I can see the butterscotch on top and they have presented it so well so let's see how it is. This is so good. This is beetroot halwa and paan ice cream and its admirable how they even came up with a combination like this.
The smell of the betel leaves just takes it to another level. The beetroot halwa is awesome. This is the mukkani halwa I think with the halwa at the bottom and the ice cream on top. I don't know what to pick and what to leave with the halwa at the bottom.
I think its mango ice cream but its so good. I think this is the one with kauli rice. This is the kauli (black) rice with vanilla ice cream. This is the very berry payasam with strawberry ice cream. This is very berry payasam so I picked it up altogether. This is a little tangy as berries have been added in it.
When talking out of 100, everything is really good so I can't pick one but I really liked this one I tried first and this one. This is the? White chocolate phirni. This is the phirni with chocolate ice cream. The phirni contains rice and its really good to eat it.
I've never tried desserts like this before. This entire pack is a hit. Even if anybody who doesn't like desserts tries this, they won't criticise it. I love it. But I don't think a person can finish it all by themselves. This is really good. What an ending.
We still have the banana and the beeda left. I'm done eating and I'm tired from it. I still haven't eaten the mushroom and the cauliflower. Everything I've mentioned is vegetarian. I've tried it all but there's still some left. I tried the vegetable kadai and every other item.
There's so many items. It's like no matter where I turn, there's food. Look there's both vegetarian and non- vegetarian food so its a knock out. They have informed me that there's no added colours or any other additives. Also if you are planning to come and eat today, then you
should prebook the day before as there's a lot of food. They won't make the food and wait for people to come as it's easier for them to prepare based on the number of people who are coming. Prebooking is a must so book the day before and come
so that the slot is available for the Raja Bhogam. If four of you are coming then mention its four people so that they can prepare the Raja Bhogam. It's not just for four people, so if its five of you, then mention its five and dn't say four.
The food is really good and my favourites were the rice and the vatha kuzhambu which I finished after switching off the camera along with the rasam. I also really liked the butter milk and those desserts at the end too. It's a must try.
There's a lot in it. If you like the biryani, then please have it. You can get whatever you want if you like it. It's a hot serve so they keep serving when and whatever you ask for. It was a wonderful experience.
My stomach is full. It's priced at Rs. 699 and that's such a great deal. This is for lunch only. Do let me know how it is in the comment section after trying the food.
